Fiji islands cruise with Seaspray

Fiji islands cruise with Seaspray

If you’re planning a family holiday to Fiji and looking to visit the outer Fiji Islands, consider taking an adventurous day trip out with South Sea Cruises.

A Fiji islands cruise with Fiji’s most experienced cruise operator should be at the top of your list. They have been running tourists between island resorts on large catamarans and offering an abundance of day trips to various islands for years.

Fiji islands cruise options

Some of these Fiji islands cruises include the South Sea Island’s Finding Nemo Tour and Treasure Island tour, for children aged 5 and up.

But if your children are a little older (10 and above) consider the Sea Spray day trip. This full-day experience starts with a free hotel pickup from Coral Coast and Denarau resorts. You will then board the large catamaran out to Mana Island.

It is here you will change boats to the SeaSpray vessel. It is an 83-foot schooner captained by the most cheerful bunch of Fijian Guys in the country!

The day trip ticket includes your hotel transfers, the catamaran trip to Mana Island, and the day out on the Seaspray.

What’s on board?

While onboard, you are offered morning and afternoon tea of fresh fruit, biscuits and tea and coffee. When lunch is served you will be delighted with the BBQ buffet feast presented before you.

Fresh fish, marinated chicken and sausages are all cooked ready to go. Along with several different freshly made salads and bread. I was absolutely stuffed after the feast, and there was plenty to go around!

Vegetarians are catered for, but please inform your travel agent before booking.

Drinks on board the Fiji islands cruise

The Captain opens up the large esky’s as soon as you board the boat. He will toast everyone with a glass of sparkling wine. All drinks are included in the ticket, and you can choose from soft drinks, water, local beers and wine throughout the day.

Alcoholic drinks are included. But this is by no means a booze cruise!. You will be spending your day island hopping and relaxing on the deck.

On board entertainment

You can gaze out over the crystal clear water while you listen to the soulful sounds of the staff singing local songs. There is even backing of guitars and drumming.

The first stop is the island Tom Hanks helped make famous in the movie Castaway. Your kids will love replicating the scenes, but bring your own ball if you want a shot with ‘Wilson’.

Activities on you Fiji Island Cruise

Good quality snorkelling gear and flippers are included for everyone on board. You can spend the hour at Castaway island checking out the coral reef system just offshore. I was able to swim among plenty of little reef fish, and the crew of Seaspray are happy to give your children small pieces of bread to hand feed the fish.

There is a cultural aspect of the trip, as you make an afternoon stop at Yanuya, a traditional island village. The kids will be able to meet the Chief of the island and buy trinkets from the local ladies. Adults are able to participate in a Kava ceremony and ask questions about village life. We wandered around the village briefly and peeked our heads into the school. It was wonderful to see how relaxed and laid back island life can be!

The full-day trip was a wonderful experience, and at only $249 per adult and $150 per child, it’s a great value day out too!
